Latest eBay Scam Very almost fell for this one myself. It was sent to an eBay account that I only use to post on the discussion boards with so I knew that something was up but I still clicked on the item number to see what it was. When I was prompted to login I decided to take a closer look and soon realised that it was a scam mail. Read below for more details. Can not stress this enough - NEVER EVER send your financial details or login details if requested to do so via email. This one is a very good and it is not obvious, until you see the web address it sends you to, that it is a scam. If you receive an email of this nature, please forward it straight to spoof@ebay.co.uk or if it is PayPal, please send it to spoof@paypal.com Do not enter any information, once you have forwarded it, please delete it. RECEIVED THIS EMAIL TODAY, 29 APRIL 2006.
Notice that the address on the "Respond Here" or any of the links on this email in fact, is very cleverly designed to look like eBay's login in page. (you can do this by moving the cursor over the link and looking at the address on the bottom left of your screen). However, eBay's login page begins with "http://signin" and not http://singin". Things to note here are that if eBay were to send you an email they would at least know your username. Also, eBay would know that there are 2 t's in a http address - look at the link under "View item description". If you receive this kind of mail the best thing to do is just delete it. You could forward it to spoof@ebay.com if you like and perhaps if eBay receive enough of them they shall investigate the matter further. Remember, NEVER EVER send your financial details or login details if requested via email. If you do have a problem with either your Paypal or eBay account then you shall receive a message from them when you have logged into your account.
